Ticket Purchase Cut-Off Times

Tickets for Midday drawings are available until 12:39 p.m., with sales for the next drawing resuming at 12:41 p.m. Tickets for Evening drawings remain on sale until 7:08 p.m. Sales for the next drawing resume at 7:10 p.m.

Bet Types

The various bet types that are available are outlined below. The way you play determines your chances of winning and the prizes you can win. The bet types are as follows:

Straight

With a Straight bet, you need your chosen numbers to match the numbers drawn in the Daily 3 Lottery in the exact order. For example, if you play the numbers 432, you only win if the numbers 4, 3, and 2 are drawn in that order.

Box

If you play a Box wager, your chosen numbers can match those drawn in any order. Your wager is considered a 3-Way or 6-Way Box depending on how many possible combinations of your chosen numbers there are. For example, there are only three possible combinations of the numbers 112 (112, 211, and 121), so this would be considered a 3-Way Box. If all three of your numbers are different, for example 123, there are six ways those numbers could be combined (123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321). The prizes awarded for 3-Way Box bets are greater than those of 6-Way Box bets, as the odds of matching the correct numbers are higher.

Wheel

For Wheel bets, you place a $0.50 or $1.00 stake on every combination of your three chosen numbers. A Wheel bet is considered a 3-Way or 6-Way bet depending on how many combinations of your chosen numbers are possible. For example, a Wheel bet on the numbers 112 would be considered a 3-Way Wheel, as there are only three possible combinations of those numbers (112, 211, and 121). If you placed this as a $1.00 Wheel bet, it would cost $3.00 in total, as you're betting $1.00 on each of the three different number combinations. A $1.00 6-Way Wheel would cost $6.00.

2-Way (Straight/Box)

With 2-Way bets, you place both a Straight bet and a Box bet on your chosen numbers. You can only place a $1.00 stake on this type of bet, as it is split in half, with $0.50 going on the Straight bet and the other $0.50 going on the Box bet. The same Straight and Box bet rules as above apply in a 2-Way bet.

1-Off

You win a 1-Off bet if your chosen numbers match those drawn in the exact order (the same as a Straight bet), or if one of your numbers is one up or one down from the numbers drawn. For example, if you chose the numbers 345, you would win a 1-Off Straight bet if the numbers drawn were 3, 4, and 5, in that order. You would win the 1-Off Up and Down bet if any of the numbers 245, 445, 335, 355, 344, or 346 are drawn, giving you six additional winning combinations.

Prizes and Odds

The following table shows the odds of winning for each bet type, along with the prize amount if you win. The odds and the prizes are directly linked. For example, the prizes awarded for 3-Way Box bets are greater than those of 6-Way Box bets, as there is less chance of matching the numbers.

Bet Type Odds of Winning Prize ($0.50 Wager) Prize ($1.00 Wager)
Straight 1 in 1,000 $250 $500
3-Way Box 1 in 333 $83 $166
6-Way Box 1 in 167 $41 $83

6-Way Wheel - $250 $500
2-Way 3-Way Straight - N/A $333

How to Claim a Daily 3 Prize

As the jackpot is under $600, all Daily 3 prizes can be claimed at any authorized Michigan Lottery retailer. Simply take your winning ticket to the retailer, who will validate it and pay out your prize. Note that Lottery retailers are not required by state law or Lottery rules and regulations to offer prize redemptions, so if they do not have sufficient cash available, you may not be able to redeem your prize at that time. Players have up to one year from the date of the draw to claim any Daily 3 prizes. Visit the How to Claim page for more information.
