How to Play

You can purchase tickets for Lotto 47 online or from authorised retailers across the state of Michigan for $1 per entry. You need to pick six numbers from 1 to 47. Follow this step-by-step guide for what to do when you fill out a playslip, and how to add EZmatch or Double Play.

Playing Lotto 47 In-Store

Follow the steps below to enter Lotto 47 in-store:

  1. Visit a Michigan Lottery retailer to fill in a Lotto 47 playslip
  2. Pick six numbers from 1 to 47 and mark them on the playslip. Alternatively, select the Easy Pick option to have your numbers randomly selected
  3. If you want to play Double Play for an additional $1 per line, mark the option on the ticket
  4. If you want to play EZmatch for an additional $1 per line, mark the option on the ticket
  5. Select how many drawings you want to enter in advance (up to a maximum of 60)
  6. Pay the retailer for your ticket and remember to keep it safe
  7. View the numbers online after the draw to see if you're a winner

If you already have a ticket from a previous drawing and want to choose the same numbers again, simply hand the ticket to the retailer and ask for a Replay. The ticket will then be reprinted ready for the next available draw(s).

Ticket Purchasing Times

You can buy tickets up to 7:08 pm on the night of a drawing. Online ticket sales for the next draw begin immediately after this cut-off time, while in-store purchases resume at 7:10pm.

How to Win

You win Lotto 47 prizes by matching three or more of the numbers on your ticket to the numbers that are drawn. To win the jackpot, all six of your numbers must be the same as the numbers drawn.

Prizes and Odds

There are four prize tiers available in Lotto 47. The jackpot starts at $1 million and rolls over if nobody wins, increasing in value for the next draw. If there are multiple winners, it is shared between all the players matching six numbers. The three other prize amounts are fixed in every draw. The prizes available and odds of winning in each tier are below:

Numbers Matched Odds of Winning Prize
6 1: 10,737,573 Jackpot
5 1: 43,649 $2,500
4 1: 873 $100
3 1: 50 $5
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 47

Double Play

Double Play is a supplementary game in which an extra set of winning numbers is drawn from 1 to 47. You use the same numbers for Double Play as you do for the main draw, and you can win prizes by matching three or more of them. The Double Play draw takes place immediately after the main game and it also uses a pool of balls numbered from 1 to 47, so the same number can appear in both draws.

There is a jackpot of $1.5 million in every draw, so unlike the main draw this cannot roll over. All other prizes amounts are doubled from the main draw. The odds of winning in Double Play are the same as Lotto 47, and the payouts on offer are below:

Numbers Matched Odds of Winning Prize
6 1: 10,737,573 $1.5 million
5 1: 43,649 $5,000
4 1: 873 $200
3 1: 50 $10
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 47

EZMatch

When you play EZmatch, five random EZmatch numbers are printed on your Lotto 47 ticket, each with a cash value between $2 and $500. If any of the numbers you chose for the main Lotto 47 drawing match the EZmatch numbers on your ticket, you win the corresponding cash prize. There are 11 prize tiers, shown below alongside the odds of winning:

Cash Prize Odds of Winning
$500 1: 84,000
$250 1: 42,000
$100 1: 14,000
$50 1: 4,942
$20 1: 2,100
$15 1: 1,293
$10 1: 132
$5 1: 280
$4 1: 77
$3 1: 14
$2 1: 10

Prize Payment Options

Jackpot winners can opt for annuity payments over a 30-year period or a one-off lump sum. This applies to both the classic game and Lotto 47 Double Play. The claim period is one year, but jackpot winners who wish to take the lump sum must request the cash option within the first 60 days. Go to the page on Claiming Prizes for more information.
